DATASâ
2000 FOR EXCEL: INSTALLATION OF THE PROGRAMS
1.
DATASâ
2000 for Excel contains 14 Microsoft Excel files (the programs) and one
documentation file (Program_Details_2000.doc) in a directory called
Datas2000_E97. Copy the
contents to your c:\ drive. After
the copying is done your c:\ drive should have a Datas2000_E97
directory that is an exact copy of all the files on the DATASâ
2000 for Excel 97 disk #1.
The contents of Datas must be copied as is
to your c:\drive. If you have
purchased a site license, you may copy the files to a Network drive.
If not, the files may only be loaded onto a drive accessible by one
computer.
2.
DATASâ
2000 for Excel disk #2 contains some test files in a directory called Testdata. At the time
of writing the test files were called Census1990.txt and invoices.csv.
Copy the contents of disk #2 to your c:\drive in the Datas2000_E97
directory.
The Census1990.txt contains
the population counts of the 3,141 counties in the US per the 1990 census.
Running the Basic Tests against this file should produce output
identical to that in Chapter 4 and 5 of Digital
Analysis Using Benford’s Law: Tests and
Statistics for Auditors.
The invoices .csv file
contains the 38,176 invoices for a real listed company in the computer
industry. The first two
columns are invented numbers for practice and these could be assumed to be
Division and Location indicators. The
third column is the invoice date. The
fourth column is the invoice amount, and the fifth column is the vendor
number.
More tests data files may be
added during 2000 and 2001.
3.
Make a backup copy of the DATASâ
2000 for Excel disks (for your own use as authorized in the license
agreement).
